At the recent BICSI conference in Bogota, Columbia, Anixter presented on IP-based solutions for data centers and other critical spaces.

Anixter recently exhibited at the 6th edition of the BICSI Andean Congress 2010 held May 19–20 in Bogota, Columbia. Targeted toward industry professionals, manufacturers, distributors and end-users, the BICSI Andean Congress 2010 covered the latest in optical fiber, broadband and network cabling standards. With nearly 500 attendees, it was the largest BICSI event in South America to date. At the conference, Andrew Jimenez, Anixter’s Vice President of Technology for Enterprise Cabling Solutions, gave the presentation “IP-Based Infrastructure Solutions

for Critical Spaces,” which highlighted the best practices and technologies for developing a physical security plan for data centers. The presentation examined industry drivers and security technologies for data centers from perimeter to cabinet-level control.

In addition to Anixter’s presentation, the conference informed participants on the items necessary to help deploy and install the latest data center technologies, including fiber-optic LANs and broadband telecommunications. The invited speakers addressed challenges of new regulations and new scopes for the development of new technologies and standards. The conference also allowed participants and attendees to share firsthand knowledge of the latest trends in next generation systems in communications and IP-based access control systems.
