In February 2016, Anixter switched all the coffee in the break rooms at its corporate headquarters in Glenview, Illinois, to Aspire CoffeeWorks, with proceeds benefiting Aspire of Chicago, a nonprofit organization providing services to kids and adults with disabilities.
When Aspire needed cable for its new construction build, Anixter stepped up and donated $10,000 worth of cabling for Aspire’s career academy in the Chicago area that will allow people with disabilities to learn new skills, connect with local businesses and be placed with organizations that can use those skills.
“We were able to donate the four-pair Cat6 cabling they needed on the job,” said Doug Deputy, Aspire board member and vice president of global learning and development at Anixter. “Our customer, Convergint Technologies, donated the labor to install the cabling in the areas where the academy’s computers, monitors and other electronics will be located,” Doug added.
