In late August, the Australian market was hit by major a electrical cable recall that affected almost 40,000 homes and businesses. Damages caused by substandard cables, which were sold by 18 electrical retailers and wholesalers in the country, were estimated to be $80 million.
While recalls of this magnitude are rare, in its recent article, British Approvals Services for Cables (BASEC) warns it could happen anywhere.
