K-12 Physical Security Solutions

Making Our Schools Safer

In recent years, a number of violent incidents have occurred on elementary, middle, and high school environments around the U.S. These have caused schools and their surrounding communities to examine the various tools available to improve safety and security.

Government organizations and advocacy groups around the country have worked to establish guidelines and recommendation to improve school safety. All of them communicate the importance of physical security technology. In addition to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and boards of education at the state level, influential organizations include:

  • PASS (Partner Alliance for Safer Schools)
  • Secure Schools Alliance
  • Safe and Sound Schools

Anixter’s K12 approach defines best practices for a layered physical security strategy, allowing school administrators to be better prepared to prevent incidents, and mitigate the impact of a tragic event.
