Airport Lighting Cables are part of a Series Lighting circuitry used for airport applications that are technically sound, flexible, reliable and cost effective in design. The three major components of this cirucit are the constant current regulator, isolation transformer and the series circuit wiring.

The airport lighting cable is the single wire loop from the constant current regulator to each load (one after the other) and then returned to the source. Normally 8 awg cables work well as the current ratings are 6.6 to 20 Amps. Standard voltage ratings on these cables are 5KV. These cables are either direct buried or placed in underground raceways.

The single loop design allows for things like the control of Lamp Illumination Levels as each load receives power equally through the loop thus operating the lamps at the same brightness. To lower the brightness simply lower the current. This then allows for good and poor weather conditions and also allows the lamps to be lowered as the plane gets closer to alleviate stress on the pilots eyes. Reliability as the loop design operates even with burnt out bulbs, shorts and grounds ensuring safe landings until maintenance can resolve the issues. Flexibility in the loop design allows installers to add or remove loads and the only thing that may have to change is the isolation transformer if the amperage gets too large.

The product is CSA ASLC C22.2 #179, FAA L-824 & ICEA S-66-524 and -40C cold impact and -35C cold flexibility.

Control & Instrumentation

Typically instrument and control cables convey low energy electrical signals to monitor and control electrical power systems and the associated processes. Applications include: industrial equipment control, generating stations, mass transit systems, pulp and paper, and petro chemcial.  The cables generally measure flow, pressure, temperature, weight, acidity or other low energy processes.

Shielding is applied on instrument cables to minimize interference from noise and to stop signal loss for a clean signal.

This cable is suitable for exposed or concealed wiring in wet or dry locations. For use in ventilated, non-ventilated and ladder type cable trays and in ventilated flexible cable trays in wet or dry locations.

The cable is sunlight resistant, direct burial, FT4, -40C (-40F), CSA

Fire Alarm

A fire alarm system is designed to detect the unwanted presence of fire by monitoring enviromental changes associated with combustion. Once the fire has been detected a signal will be transmitted and an audible warning will be given.

Fire Alarm Cables are a key component of the system.  Fire Alarm systems can be used to notify people to evacuate in the event of a fire or other emergency, to summon emergency services, and to prepare the structure and associated systems to control the spread of fire and smoke.

A typical system consists of smoke detectors, thermal or heat detectors, fire alarm or annuciator panel, sprinkler system, and the notification of emergency response.

The system needs to be able to evacuate people, turn the sprinklers to stop or slow the spread of fire, and advise emergency responders.

These cables are built to CSA C22.2 #208 and are marked CSA FAS

Hook-Up Wire

Insulated single conductors used in low voltage and low current applications for point to point, internal wiring of electrical and electronic equipment. These conductors are available in a wide varitety of colors, can be tinned or bare copper, solid or stranded copper and can range in awg sizes from 26 awg to 2 awg. Hook-up and lead wire products can be used in applications varying from interconnection circuits, internal wiring of computer and data processing equipment, appliances, lighting, motor leads, heating and cooling equipment, metering equipment, and harness fabrication.

Plenum

Plenum Image

Plenum by definition means an air filled space in a structure. Most buildings today feature drop ceilings which accommodate lighting fixtures, heating and air conditioning ducts, as well as wiring for electrical systems such as communication, alarm and security circuits. This space above the ceiling is commonly used for return air and ventilation systems and is referred to as a "plenum". Current electrical codes mandate that wires installed into this space must either be installed inside a metal conduit or else be made of materials which have low smoke and fire resistant qualities. Plenum cables are an attractive option to contractors as they eliminate the need to handle awkward conduit as well as providing an economical alternative to the traditional methods.

Deca's plenum cables are all verified at either ETL or UL laboratories to ensure that the necessary specifications are meet. Testing to CSA FT6 Horizontal Flame and Smoke Test per CSA C22.2 No 0.3-92 Appendix B and in accordance with ANSI/NFPA Standard 262 (UL910) that states a maximum flame spread of 1.5 meters, peak optical density of emitted smoke is less than 0.5 and maximum average optical density is 0.15.

Deca can produce plenum cables using either fluoropolymer materials such as FEP, Tefzel, and Kynar, or more commonly using copolymer blended PVC/PVC combinations. In addition to the low smoke and fire resistant qualities, our cables have excellent electrical properties as well. Solar

Specialized single conductor cables built for use in PV (Photovoltaic) Systems to interconnect panels and take electricity back to a collection point.

PV Systems convert sunlight to electric or heat energy.  Solar Electric Modules or Photovoltaic (PV) can generate electricity for use in marine and aviation navigation lighting, oil and gas SCADA systems, telecommunication repeater stations, on-grid or off-grid houses or facilities.  

Panels can be grouped together to supply anything from watts, to kilowatts to megawatt power. Interconnect cables are normally RPV type and field cables are RPVU.

The cable is sunlight resistant, direct burial, -40C (-40F), CSA Certified.  RPV and RPVU versions are available.

Thermocouple

Thermocouple Image

Thermocouples are used in industrial applications for temperature measurements on gas turbine exhaust, diesel engines, kilns or other industrial processes that require the measurement of a temperature. The cables consist of two solid or stranded dissimilar metal alloys for conductors, that produce a voltage when heated. Different alloys are used for different temperature ranges. Specific alloys that have a repeatabe relationship between temperature and voltage.The most common thermocouple cables used are extension grade, solid conductor, KX and JX. Other alloys, for more specialized applications, are also available.

The thermocouple cable goes from the point of sensing to the point of cold junction compensation (cjc end) where the signal is measured. At the cjc end, the millivolt value provided by the thermocouple represents the difference in temperature of the sensing end as compared to the cjc end (also called the reference end).

The cable conductors and outer jacket are color coded to the ANSI MC96.1 standard (other options are available). Available in both a CSA tray and armored version, these cables can be used in many industrial applications. The main limitation with thermocouples is accuracy; system errors of less than one degree Celsius (°C) can be difficult to achieve.

Thermostat Wire (LVT)

LVT cables are for use in wiring low voltage heating and air conditioning controls, bell and annunciator systems. These cables can be used in both damp or dry locations.

Available in solid or stranded conductors from #22 awg to 16 awg in 2 to 50 conductors and rated at 30V. The 2c construction is available in parallel or twisted options.

Traffic Signal

Traffic cables manufactured for signaling, control, communications and detection in a Traffic Signal System. Manufactured in accordance with IMSA, CSA and MTO standards. RoHS approved and designed for harsh enviroments to assist in the flow of traffic.

IMSA19-1 and 19-1C (CSA Approved Cables) run from the traffic light to the controller station.

IMSA 50-2, Loop Detector, run from the junction box to the controller station. Contained in the roadway to signal the presence of a vehicle at an intersection to help with traffic flow.

Designed for use as direct burial, aerial supported by a messenger, conduits and duct banks.
