Customer feedback from both, the IT and industry business on the solutions is extremely positive and they are convinced of their value proposition and competitiveness.

IT Infrastructure Solutions

The digital transformation is revolutionising production. To control production in line with Industry 4.0, all components are now interlinked and communicate with one another: robots, human/machine interfaces, sensors and actuators, machines, tools and control systems. Their values are compared against their digital twin. This generates vast volumes of data. That’s where decentralized Edge Data Centres come in in addition to Hyperscale and Colocations DCs.

Rittal and Anixter provide customized Data Center solutions like “Rack & Stack Offerings”, Smart Rack offerings for Colocation, Industrial Rack packages for industrial environments, Outdoor solutions for Telco, and Container solutions for global System Integrators.

Industry Infrastructure Solutions

The key to greater productivity in enclosure manufacturing lies in digital integration and end-to-end data transfer across the entire value chain. Digital prototyping from the outset, with the digital twin at its heart, provides the basis for rapid links between processes, systems and beyond.

Rittal and Anixter provide industrial enclosures as well as wall-mounted enclosures with a unique range of accessories for system integration, power distributions and climate control. Various configurators exist to select your right package. The products are available globally.

Energy consumption is an important factor for economical IT operations. The maximum transparency of consumption is vital. That is why Rittal has integrated extensive measurement functions for detailed energy analysis in its new PDU (Power Distribution Unit) product range. Intelligent variants also support switching per output and the connection of access controls. The PDUs can be configured online, which lets IT users implement high-quality power distribution quickly and easily within any IT rack, based on their individual requirements. With its intelligent power distribution system, Rittal has significantly enhanced its IT infrastructure range, which covers IT cooling, monitoring, physical security and turnkey data centres including cloud services to meet the IT world’s future demands.

5G at Rittal: The new mobile communication standard finds its way into manufacturing
Rittal is one of the first industrial players to receive a 5G frequency allocation. Before the end of the year, a private 5G mobile communications network will be installed in the new Haiger plant. The first pilot projects, for example in production monitoring and analysis, have already been defined.

Solution Examples

The performance and security of any IT infrastructure is determined to a significant degree by the interaction between individual components. All system components in the Rittal system platform are perfectly coordinated with one another.

Large volumes of data generated in the immediate production environment must be processed quickly and reliably. To this end, Rittal offers customized DC solutions from small to big as well as packaged, in room or in containers or high availability security rooms.

Additionally, Anixter customers can use the wide range of edge data centre packages, for IT to be everywhere in critical or uncritical environments.  These ensure low IT at site, where it´s generated for applications that demand low latencies, maximum computing power and optimum security.

IT in industrial environment

IoT applications demand Edge solutions on premise, where the data is generated like in manufacturing, industrial operations, building management, retail. Edge Data Center can handle a wide variety of tasks, not just data capture and condition monitoring. With critical processes, such as controlling traffic flows or monitoring production processes, it is particularly vital for an edge data centre to reflect the availability of the application. Scalable redundancy is the key here.
