When Thousands of Homes and Businesses Lost Power, the Joint Capabilities of WESCO and Anixter Were Ready
When a severe storm hit the Midwest United Sates last month, one of the nation’s largest utility companies experienced damage to their grid infrastructure and thousands of power outages. They sent out nationwide requests on Friday evening to other utilities and distributors for urgently needed equipment including cable, pole line hardware and transformers. Starting early on Saturday morning, joint teams of WESCO and Anixter led by Josh Binger (WESCO) and Emily Gaskins-Seever (Anixter) reviewed lists and provided inventory availability to the utility. The teams worked all weekend to enter orders, set up the utility’s credit line, pull inventory and coordinate operational support for fast shipping to multiple locations.
Stronger, Better, Faster Together
Due to the scope of the storm damage, volume and variety of products required and multiple locations involved, no single distributor was capable of meeting the utility's needs. Together, the combined capabilities of WESCO and Anixter were able to provide everything the utility required to repair the grid and promptly reinstate power to their customers.
