Anixter-mentored Statesboro, GA, is one of eight finalists for the America’s Best Communities contest, receiving $100,000 for making it to the finals. If Statesboro wins, it will be eligible for up to $3 million for economic development. Anixter wants to congratulate the town and applaud its efforts in making it to the finals.

The America’s Best Communities is an economic revitalization program that encourages collaboration and cooperation among individuals and organizations to achieve the same goal: to increase economic development and create positive change within communities. Spearheaded by Frontier Communications with sponsorship from DISH Networks, The Weather Channel and CoBank, the contest covers communities in 27 states that have populations between 9,500 and 80,000.

“Anixter is thrilled that Statesboro has made it to the finals, “said Rod Smith, Executive Vice President, Human Resources. “We believe that giving back to the community is a central part of Anixter’s philosophy, and we’re proud that we’ve been able to help Statesboro pursue this award.”

Anixter has assisted Statesboro city leaders and planners as they develop new ways to accelerate the city’s local economy and improve the quality of life.

The three-year America’s Best Communities competition will provide millions in seed money and support to communities that are developing economic growth strategies. The top three communities will receive a total of $6 million. The winner receives $3 million, second place receives $2 million and third place receives $1 million.
