CPI Solutions Help SpareBank 1 Achieve Desired PUE with "Lego® Approach"

How the “Lego Approach” Helped Norway Giant SpareBank 1 Create a Flexible Data Centre

Using what they call “The Lego® Approach,” SpareBank 1, a Norway-based alliance of banking, insurance and holding companies, was able to improve its data centre infrastructure and lower its Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) thanks to Chatsworth Products’ (CPI) flexible and innovative data centre solutions.

SpareBank 1 teamed up with CPI and Coromatic, a vendor of data centre solutions, to design a state-of-the-art data centre tailored specifically to its organisational needs. The alliance wanted a solution that would fit into its existing environment, while accommodating the 200 kW of power and cooling it takes to maintain the continuity of its operations.

To meet these unique installation requirements and to create the most efficient solution possible, SpareBank 1 selected CPI’s Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) Solution, Two-and Four-Post Racks and Evolution® Cable Management and Accessories. CPI’s HAC Solution completely isolates hot exhaust air from IT equipment and removes it from the room, resulting in more efficient cooling units. More importantly, it helped the alliance achieve its desired PUE goal of 1.3.

Changes were being done while we were building, so this solution gave us the flexibility to make adjustments as we went.
