Three Fundamental Strategies to Achieve 5G: Part 3 - Optimization

Efficiency is crucial to the always-on networks of tomorrow.

To be better prepared for what's ahead, mobile network operators (MNOs) will need to become more efficient. This means placing cloud computing capabilities closer to edge for lower latency. It also means embracing new technologies such as advanced self-organizing networks (SON) and advanced beamforming to optimize performance.
In addition, MNOs will need to better manage their frequencies, anticipate future power needs, and deploy more time division duplex (TDD) technology. And last, but not least, MNOs will need to focus on ensuring a clean RF path to reduce interference, which adversely affects throughput capacity.
