Veracity Launches Multi-Channel Ethernet and POE Devices

32 HIGHWIRE channels in 1U delivering POE Plus over coax.

Having blazed a trail for the industry with the original solutions for POE and Ethernet over Coax (EoC) over the last ten years, these new additions to the HIGHWIRE family work seamlessly with the existing range to provide true connect-and-go simplicity.
The new rack-mounted HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 8™ unit delivers Ethernet and POE Plus over 8 coax links and incorporates a Gigabit switch. Four units fit into a 1U tray, allowing up to 32 channels per U, optionally incorporating Veracity’s new 500W POE power supply in the same 1U. This solution significantly increases channel density, increases available POE power budget and reduces both the number of main switch ports required and the overall cost per channel. Full 100Base-TX is delivered over 1000 ft of RG59 Coax (1,600 ft RG11).

Base 8 units offer Gigabit uplinks via wired RJ45 or via the optional SFP fiber module.
The smaller HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4™ although also rack-mountable, is the perfect replacement for the large installed base of 4-channel video encoders, allowing direct upgrade of analog to IP cameras whilst leaving the legacy cabling in place.

Multiple channels are also possible at the IP camera end of the coax cable. HIGHWIRE Powerstar Duo™ and Quad units are powered by POE over coax from the Base units and enable the installation of two or four IP devices respectively, with up to 25W total POE power budget. Quad and Duo are fully compatible with single and multi-channel HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base™ units.
