Basic Low-Voltage Electricity for Installers
9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

This entry-level course is designed to educate students in the basic knowledge needed to wire an electronic locking system. Class includes instruction and hands-on exercises. The following topics, plus many more, are covered:

  • Voltage, current and resistance
  • Switches and relays
  • Fail-safe/fail-secure lock wiring
  • Series versus parallel wiring
  • Multi-meter circuits
Electric Strike Installation
1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Students will be shown the easiest techniques for cutting and installing an electric strike into a hollow metal door frame. Cutting tool selection and use of the HES metal template kit is demonstrated. This course will cover:
  • Hands-on installation
  • Installation techniques
  • Electric strike application and selection
  • Fire-rated verses non-fire rated-openings
