IBM to Revolutionize the Sports and Entertainment Experience

Anixter Joins IBM to Launch First Global Consortium, Consulting Practice to Modernize Entertainment Venues and Sports Experiences

IBM announced that it is partnering with leading companies, including Anixter, to create the Sport and Entertainment Global Consortium. The goal of the group will be drive better fan experiences through sophisticated technology and wireless environments.

As a $700 billion global industry, sports and entertainment is a fast growing market segment in nearly every country, but yet fails to provide basic in-stadium connectivity for wireless services on mobile devices, e-commerce and entertainment options, and delivery of real-time information of events and athletic performances. New higher levels of engagement along with new sources of revenue can be realized with enhanced digital capabilities delivered on high-bandwidth connectivity and services.

The group will seek to incorporate digital elements through a robust infrastructure that includes fiber optical networks, distributed antenna systems, digital signage, physical security and other audio/video and building technologies. As part of the consortium, Anixter will provide state-of-the-art solutions, technical support and customized supply chain services for infrastructure technology, software and IPTV to help enhance the experience within major sports and entertainment venues.

Anixter is excited to be part of the IBM consortium that will provide state-of-the-art solutions for an enhanced consumer experience within major sports and entertainment venues. As one of IBM's key Global Alliance partners, we additionally provide technical support and customized supply chain services that enable innovative solutions and implementation around the world.
